A Study of the Nutrient Foramine of the Diaphyses of the Long Bones (The Second Report)

Abstract
|
|
|
An observation of the total 110 femora selected at random from Korean normal skeletons were carried out to study the size, number and the location of nutrient foramina in the midshaft, with the estimation of the anteversion and femoral neck angle.
1. The location of the nutrient foramina of the midshaft was concentrated in the Ⅳ and Ⅵ zones on linea aspera on horizontal section.
2. The nutrient foramina of the right femora consisted mainly of larger group than that of the left which were medium in size. Statistically significant.
3. The graphic drowing of the nutrient foramina on the vertical and horizontal section revealed a " Inverted V figure" in theⅤ,Ⅵ zones, and linea aspera and internal surface.
4. It seems that the injury of nutrient artery during surgery in this region may be avoided with the approach of the anterior and lateral part on the vrticalⅤ,Ⅵ zones, as the internal and posterior surface is vulnerable.
